A dozen of we women in rural enterprise met on Monday evening for a terrifically useful workshop to recharge our marketing, with Marianne Pettifor.
Marianne is a queen of her subject, having spent time at businesses like Saatchi & Saatchi and knows a huge amount about it. All her steers are backed up with real-life examples and she put us through our paces working on our positioning statements, unique selling points and features and benefits.
Here are a few of the takeaways Marianne gave us:
+ go for maximum reach for minimum cost
+ specialists win in marketing - not generalists
+ talk in the language of the people receiving your message
+ your key message should be what you do for people
+ sell the sizzle not the sausage!
Marianne's time, enthusiasm and expertise were most appreciated - and big thanks too, to Lisa Johnston of Business Wales for setting up the workshop, and Kaye Harris-John who runs the Pettifor trust for contributing to the fun also.
