A Dying Matters Survey has shown that over half of British adults prefer to avoid using the word "death". 1 in 3 people think about death or dying at least once a week and yet more than two thirds of people in relationships have never talked to their partner about their end of life wishes.
Dr Mannix has written this book with the aim of encouraging more open conversation about death and dying by telling the stories of patients that she has met through her career.
Says Dr Rebecca croft, of Ty Cymorth, Glangwili Hospital, "I found this book truly inspiring and it made me consider how I communicate with patients and families.I would recommend it to all health care professionals as well as members of the public".
We are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to hear Dr Mannix talk in Carmarthen and I hope that it will both benefit people personally but also act as a catalyst for opening up conversation about death, dying and palliative care in Carmarthenshire. By doing that we can become a more compassionate society More stories
