A two hour workshop carving a silver ring from jewellers wax to be cast into solid silver. Learn from jeweller Maggie Cross as she guides you through wax carving techniques for lost wax casting.
Course Description
Have fun making something special with a personal touch. Carve a unique, one of a kind ring using jewellers wax and a selection of tools. Your bespoke wax ring will then be sent to a casting company in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter who will cast the wax into solid silver using the process of lost wax casting. The rings will then be hand-finished and posted back to you.
What will the evening involve?
Maggie will begin by introducing herself and the techniques involved with wax ring carving. She will be on hand to guide you and answer questions throughout the session. At the time of your workshop, you may choose to upgrade to a wide ring or decide to make a second ring. These two options will incur extra charges payable on the night. Included in your workshop ticket price, depending on the venue, is a cocktail or nibbles to enjoy while you make your ring. Also included in your ticket price are all materials required to make your ring, plenty of tools to use on the night, solid silver casting and finishing of your ring and return postage and packaging. Your ring will be returned to you in solid silver within 2-3 weeks. Our venues will have a bar open for you to purchase further drinks or food should you wish. Please note that we have an under eighteen policy due to the sharp tools used in this workshop.
