We are delighted to have another season full of diverse, high quality drama shows this Spring, beginning with Theatr Pena’s Woman of Flowers.
Based on the ancient Mabinogi myth of Blodeuwedd and inspired by Saunders Lewis's seminal verse drama of the same name, this English language drama written by award-winning Welsh writer Siôn Eirian, is a strikingly poetic re-telling of the story of the woman made from flowers.
In Woman of Flowers, Saunders Lewis’ Welsh language classical verse drama is combined with original material to create a brand new, captivating and dark fantasy, set in a primeval world of gods and mortals.
‘Alone in a cold and alien world, rootless and without ties, Blodeuwedd isn’t like other women.’
Created to suit the desires of men, she is the ideal woman and perfect in every way. Until, that is, she rebels against the role decided for her by those who made her, and asserts her innate wildness in the face of those who would control her.”
The drama features a cast of six superbly talented Welsh actors, including two BAFTA Award winning actresses, Eiry Thomas as the wizard Gwydion and Isabella Marshal as the Woman of Flowers, Blodeuwedd.
Join us this February as a supernatural tale of love, lust, betrayal and retribution is brought alive on our stage in an imaginative and visually rich production!
