Christmas Lights Switch On
Families are invited to join the celebrations at this year’s Christmas lights switch-on at St Catherine’s Walk in Carmarthen on Saturday 25 November.
The shopping centre is running a competition on its Facebook page to find two lucky youngsters to help Santa switch on the lights at 5.30pm.
The festive fun kicks off at 2pm, building up to the switch on. The event will be compered by Jay Curtis from Radio Carmarthenshire.
There will be a huge variety of entertainment for everyone to enjoy during the afternoon, including comedy shows from Fairly Famous Family, amazing magic from Robin Foxley and a pair of stiltwalking Christmas trees.
Children will go nuts for Mr and Mrs Nutkin – two gorgeous giant squirrels. The enchanting street theatre act will charm everyone who meets them.
The lounge lizards from Fairly Famous Family will be there to wish everyone a cheesy Christmas. They will be on stage performing their Tap It and Unwrap It routine – so shoppers can expect lots of comedy, juggling and magic too.
The stars from Jermin Productions’ latest pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk will be there to meet youngsters. The show will be on in Carmarthen in December.
There will be merry magic from Sir Foxley who will ride around St Catherine’s on his penny farthing adorned in fairy lights. Shoppers will watch his incredible illusions in wonderment.
Shoppers can also enjoy delicious festive treats at the Christmas street food festival at St Catherine’s Walk on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 November. The festival organised by Street Food Warehouse will offer foods from around the world, including Spanish paella, Italian arancini, a Welsh-based coffee cart, and crepes and waffles.
