In association with the Royal Geographical Society, we are thrilled to welcome Fredi Devas to our stage, the producer of hit BBC documentary series Planet Earth and Planet Earth II.
As a wildlife filmmaker Fredi cares deeply about the natural world and the challenges it faces. He has completed a PhD on Chacma bamboos in Namibia, researched the bushmeat trade in Equatorial Guinea and lived with San bushmen in Southern Africa. He has also worked on a range of nature programmes for the BBC, including Frozen Planet, Wild Arabia and Meerkat Manor.
In the Planet Earth II series David Attenborough explored how animals met the challenges of surviving in the most iconic and fastest growing habitats; the city.
Whilst leopards prowl the streets of Mumbai, peregrine falcons hunt amongst New York's skyscrapers and locals live in harmony with wild hyenas in Harar, many animals struggle to cope in the urban jungle.
As the architects of this environment, can humans choose to build cities that are homes for both them and wildlife?
Fact: The Planet Earth II: Cities episode won a BAFTA in the Photography: Factual category and the Sound Factual category in 2017!
'Sensational, surreal and sobering' The Independent
'A remarkable feat of television!' The Independent
