Brought to us by the excellent Carmarthenshire WiRE,https://www.facebook.com/groups/carmarthenshireWiRE/ last week's meeting featured Diana Vickers who runs The Best Of Carmarthenshire and Carmarthenshire Means Business Awards.
Diana spoke of how entering for an award is a good chance for a business to benchmark itself, in its broadest sense:
- Where are we compared to our competitors?
- How is staff morale?
- How credible is our business?
- Are we making the most of free marketing, PR and social media opportunities?
- Are we recognized for our community impact?
These are some obvious benefits of winning an award, but Diana also pointed out that suppliers can sometimes negotiate more readily with award winning companies, which may easily recoup the cost of entry to the competition.
Local trade organizations, councils, professional bodies and online communities are good sources of information on award opportunities.
And - most importantly - how do you win?
For Carmarthenshire Means Business Awards, judges are looking for innovation, strategic thinking, diversity, customer focus, investment in people and ethical and environmental responsibility.
There are several categories and the deadline for entry is January 31st - and a great way to start the year for your business, with a gentle prod to the pants...https://carmarthenshiremeansbusiness.wales/carmarthenshire-means-business-awards/
